Neuro-Affirming Children's Occupational Therapy Townsville and Greater Regional Services

Welcome to Naturally Kids Allied Health, your local home for compassionate, strengths-based Paediatric Occupational Therapy Townsville and the greater North Queensland region. We are a dedicated, purpose-driven team of paediatric occupational therapists and allied health assistants specialising in supporting neurodivergent children, teens, and young adults from infancy up to 20 years of age.

Many neurodivergent children experience barriers to participation, connection, and belonging in everyday life. We believe children do best when they feel safe to be themselves, when they can connect with others, explore their interests, and participate in ways that feel authentic to them. Through a belonging-centred, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed approach, we help kids build the self-esteem, confidence, and real-world skills they need to thrive.

Whether your child is navigating life with Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing challenges, intellectual impairments and physical disabilities like cerebral palsy, we walk alongside your family to design a therapy pathway that fits your unique lifestyle.

By focusing on connection before compliance, we create supportive environments where children do not just learn skills, they find a genuine sense of belonging.

Comprehensive Support at Our Townsville Sensory Gym or in Your Daily Environment

We understand that therapy is most effective when it fits naturally into a child’s real-life routine. To support your family, we provide highly flexible mobile and clinic services designed to meet children exactly where they are most comfortable.

Our Townsville Clinic Space

Located at Office 6/141 Ingham Road, West End, our welcoming clinic features a fully equipped sensory gym alongside smaller, quiet therapy rooms. This specialised layout allows us to balance active, movement-based sensory integration with focused, one-on-one skill development in a safe and structured environment.

Our Mobile Therapy Services

For families who prefer support in everyday environments, our mobile therapists travel directly to homes, schools, daycares, local parks, or sporting fields. This real-world practice ensures that the therapeutic strategies we develop carry over naturally into your child’s daily habits, social circles, and family life.

Our clinic maintains extensive service coverage across Townsville and surrounding regions. To ensure families in regional communities have access to high-quality care, our mobile outreach services extend across a 200km radius, providing regular therapy visits to Ayr, Ingham, and West from Charters Towers all the way to Mount Isa.

Our Individual and Group Therapy Programs

Children's OT Townsville: Strengths-Based Neurodivergence Support

Our experienced team provides specialised therapy tailored to a wide range of neurodivergent profiles and developmental differences. We build on each young person’s inherent strengths, reframing differences as unique ways of interacting with the world.

We provide comprehensive, play-based support for children experiencing:

  • Autism Spectrum Conditions: Supporting communication, social connection, daily life transitions, and self-advocacy without using compliance-based or ABA therapies.
  • ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder): Developing executive functioning skills, task initiation, time-awareness, and practical focus strategies that align with your child’s natural cognitive rhythm.
  • Sensory Processing Challenges: Helping children understand, regulate, and communicate their unique sensory profiles, whether they are sensory-seeking or sensory-sensitive to touch, sound, movement, or environmental inputs.
  • Motor Coordination & Praxis: Building physical confidence, spatial awareness, handwriting skills, and bilateral coordination for everyday school and home activities.

Transparent Funding Models and Dedicated Intake Management

We believe in making the administrative side of paediatric care as transparent and stress-free as possible for parents, support coordinators, and referring health professionals.

Our Supported Funding Pathways

To ensure our services remain accessible, we support a variety of clinical and community funding pathways:

  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme): We work closely with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants to align therapy goals directly with their active NDIS plans.
  • Private Health Insurance: Families can access private health rebates depending on their level of extras coverage.
  • Medicare Subsidies: We accept GP-referred Medicare plans (such as the Chronic Disease Management Plan), which can cover approximately 25% of the therapy session fee.

Transparent Waitlist Information

To maintain our high standards of clinical care and ensure every family receives the dedicated attention they deserve, we manage our intake process carefully. We provide up-to-date waitlist information upon enquiry, helping you plan your therapy timeline with absolute clarity. Our team is committed to keeping wait times as short as possible while ensuring our active clients and group participants continue to receive stable, continuous, and high-quality support.

Our Mission: Believing in the Power of Belonging

Our mission is to support neurodivergent children and young adults to experience genuine belonging, so they can participate in the world as their true selves. Many children struggle not because something is wrong with them, but because the environments around them are not designed for how they learn, play, and connect with others. We focus on changing the spaces around the child so they can succeed.

We are completely committed to neuro-affirming and trauma-informed practices, building directly on what your child loves and does well, rather than trying to fit them into a rigid developmental box. As play advocates, we integrate free outdoor play and structured sports into our work to help children feel successful and build lasting self-confidence.

Whether you are a parent seeking a supportive community for your child, a support coordinator looking for a trusted allied health partner, or a local medical professional wanting to refer a client, we welcome you to contact our team to discuss how we can work together.
